Its time for a vacation! Pack your bags now, and let Unpacked get you there.
The purpose of this project, was to create a viable travel website and company. Wire framing, research, and a multitude of process work would be needed to arrive at an apt website design solution. This project needed to demonstrate originality in an over-saturated market. The final design must be AODA compliant in it's design and appropriate French translation would be needed for all aspects of the website to ensure various usability standards and practices.
- Creation of a travel website company.
- Logo and wordmark.
- Minimum 4 webpages showcasing different layout/structure and must maintain a high-fidelity design. Broken down into 1 landing page, 2 content-driven pages and 1 checkout or booking page.
Research into various competitive designs, brands, layouts and functions of websites helped establish a strong foundation. Most of the research went into analytical information about travelling and how customers are interested in travelling abroad within differing age ranges. Within the preliminary research, demographics and information were disseminated from the content. Afterward, a brand and business model was established to suit missing needs in the market, to make segmented audience experience a priority and investigated into areas of lesser competition to allow for the emergence of a new company titled "Unpacked." The cute logo and wordmark combination work in unison to make a travel luggage handle. However, it fundamentally uses psychological design approaches that speak towards the website/company striving to make travelling a more accessible experience rather than a complicated journey. It seeks to employ strategies within its interface as a business model to streamline the experience for users who want to travel quickly by tying together and using bundled travel and hotel services.

There is a lot to unpack, pun intended, with this project. For starters, the website's content utilizes hierarchical layout strategies, grids and information practices, keeping user experience and AODA guidelines in mind. It grabs the attention of individuals landing on the hero page using a large, simple, and robust feature photo. All the essential information resides at the top and is not bogged down, leading to a functional, clean, and interactive final design that prioritizes user experience. The interface has minimized steps to get you to where you need to go, and this methodology was thought out within the low-fidelity stages of the website's design. It employs simple shapes in relation to keywords and employs design strategies to make function and form a priority.
